The Vermont State Society will hold its Annual Meeting on Tuesday, March 2nd, 6:30pm-8:30pm to have cocktails, elect officers, and discuss Vermont issues.

As you may know, March 2nd is Town Meeting Day in Vermont and there are town elections held, school budgets considered and various ballot items voted upon, including a big one this year on the future of Vermont Yankee.

Like last year, the VTSS meeting will take place at the Penn Quarter Sports Tavern, 639 Indiana Ave,NW (7th & Penn NW). Located 1/2 block east of the Archives-Navy Memorial (Yellow/Green) Metro, and 2 blocks south of the Gallery Place-Chinatown (Red) Metro station.  VTSS will provide delicious appetizers, and the drinks are on you. Meet the Candidate, Meeting, VTSS Event

Thanks to everyone who joined the VTSS at Penn Quarter Sports Tavern on Tuesday night. In addition to confirming the organization’s leadership, we discussed the successful Inaugural Event, which had more than 500 attendees. This event was made possible through volunteer efforts and the generous support of Vermont businesses. Please click the link above to review all the corporate support that we received.

Narric led a brief brainstorming session to discuss future  VTSS activities. I have reproduced below a sample of the proposed activities and events. Please feel free to add your suggestion in the comments below.

Ideas:

• Event to commerate the Battle of Bennington (August 16, 1777)
• Coordinated trip to Nationals Stadium to see the Boston Red Sox in June (23-26)
• Coordinated trip to the Verizon Center to watch the Frozen Four in April (9-11)
• Event to highlight Vermont businesses; this could be beer tasting, or a State Fair-type event
• Charitable contribution to sponsor a Vermont student for a DC internship, Close Up trip, or otherwise
• Informational updates on Vermont political candidates passing through DC
