In e-mails sent today, Senator Patrick Leahy and Congressman Peter Welch announced the Vermont State Society’s Inaugural Event.

In just a few weeks time we will be celebrating the inauguration of a new president.  Millions of Americans are expected to visit Washington, DC to attend the inaugural festivities and thousands of Vermonters will be among them.  If you are one of those Vermonters that is planning on traveling down to our nation’s capital, I wanted to make sure you were aware of the Vermont State Society Inaugural Reception on Sunday, January 18, 2009, 8pm-11pm.

The reception will be a great way for Vermonters to connect and commemorate this inauguration. It will take place at a venue adjacent to the Capitol where you can enjoy a rooftop view of Washington,DC at night. Tickets, and further information, are available on the Vermont State Society website www.vtss.org.

Inaugural Party Receives Exciting Support from Vermont Businesses

With 14 days until the event, we have some great news to share with you.

Food and Beverage Sponsors:
Magic Hat brewery will be sponsoring the event with many different kinds of their award winning beer. Appetizers will be provided by local Vermont companies who are supporting the event
including, Dakin Farms ham, Shelburne Farms and Jasper Hill Farms cheese, Ma Bean’s Apple Pie, and many more. We will even be offering Mocha Joe’s JoBama blend coffee on the roof!

Raffle:
The Vermont Teddy Bear Company has donated five bears including three
Obama bears that will be raffled off during the event along with a Vermont goods
package. Every person who buys one $100 ticket will get one raffle
ticket at the door.

Entertainment:
Burlington musician Lowell Thompson will be traveling to Washington to
play some laid back alt-country, bluegrass and rock ‘n roll tunes for
us at the reception. Check out his music here.

Our venue holds 400 people, and we are selling tickets at a good clip now. To insure attendance please buy your tickets today.
