U.S. Representative Peter Welch Invites Vermonters to VTSS Inaugural Reception

Below is a note sent by Congressman Welch on 1/11/13 to Vermonters passing along an invitation the VT State Society Inaugural Reception.

Dear Friends,

After a high-stakes election season, we are just a few weeks away from President Obama’s second inauguration. I expect many Vermonters will be in Washington DC to celebrate. If you are one of those Vermonters, I wanted to make sure you knew about the Vermont State Society Inaugural Reception on Sunday, January 20, 2013, 8pm – 11pm.

The Vermont State Society is a social organization made up of Washington area residents who have a strong affinity for Vermont. The Vermont State Society hosted its first-ever Presidential Inauguration reception in 2009 with nearly 600 Vermonters and friends of Vermont in attendance. The 2013 event will again showcase Vermont’s fantastic food, drink, music and people. This is the only event during the inauguration festivities dedicated to our state and I am pleased to support this celebratory event.

The reception will be a great way for Vermonters to connect and celebrate the inauguration. It will take place at 101 Constitution Avenue NW, a venue adjacent to the Capitol where you can enjoy a close-up view of the swearing-in stage. Tickets and additional information are available on thVermont State Society website at www.vtss.org.

Please do not hesitate to stop by my new office while you are in DC.  Hope to see you there!

U.S. Senator Pat Leahy Invites Vermonters to VTSS Inaugural Reception

Below is a note sent by Senator Leahy on 1/4/13 to Vermonters passing along an invitation the VT State Society Inaugural Reception.

Dear Vermonter:
In just two weeks time we will be celebrating the second inauguration of President Barack Obama. Several hundred thousand Americans are expected to visit Washington, DC to attend the inaugural festivities and thousands of Vermonters will be among them. If you are planning on attending inauguration, I wanted to make sure you were aware of the Vermont State Society Inaugural Reception on Sunday, January 20, 2013, 8:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.

The Vermont State Society (VTSS) was founded in January 2008, as the 49th chapter of the National Conference of State Societies. This social organization was formed by Washington area residents who have a strong affinity for Vermont. VTSS holds events throughout the year to further the local appreciation of, and connections to, Vermont. I really enjoyed attending this event in 2009 and am pleased to support this celebratory event again.

The reception will take place in a beautiful venue adjacent to the Capitol with roof views of all of downtown Washington. While the temperatures may be in the mid-thirties, I wouldn’t expect any Vermonter to mind it at all as they enjoy a cocktail, or a warm drink, and one of the most memorable views Washington has to offer! Tickets, and further information, are available on the Vermont State Society website at www.vtss.org.

Hope to see you in Washington!

Patrick Leahy
U.S. Senator
